FAQs

We are so excited to see your interest in our community – we understand there might be some questions before committing to joining Girlfriends Boston + more things you want to know, so we hope the following can help.

How many events per month do we host?

We have at least 2-3+ official events per month. However, it all depends on the month and the number of activities we can get confirmed. Our members are constantly planning their own gatherings and hangouts (non-officials) within our community or with the people they have met over different events.

Do I have to attend events in order to make friends?

No, we facilitate events and opportunities for you to meet new people, but as we always say, we always encourage you to make plans with people on the different group chats provided within the membership and plan your own outings outside of events. Our members are constantly planning their own gatherings and hangouts (non-officials) within our community or with the people they have met over different events.

How do I know what events are happening:

We send an email with the events that will happen that month but keep in mind that we sometimes add more events, and we notify our members of all of the add-ons.

How do I sign up for events?

We launch all of our events to members first via email + our group chat. We announce all of our events to members + when they are launching before hand.

Who is the Girlfriends Boston team?

Hi, it’s ME, Ana :),  if you have attended any of our events, you have probably met me. Girlfriends are mainly run by one person: me. From Social media to event planning, to event setups, to everything else you can think of. I do have a couple of people who help in different aspects of this, but it’s mostly myself.

Why did Girlfriends start?

I (Ana), am originally from Venezuela, I moved to Boston almost 10 years ago, and I found it extremely difficult to make friends as an adult, and more importantly, true friends, people who I could count on. I became a photographer to try to meet new girlfriends that way, and through that, I met someone who was also struggling with that, even though she grew up here! SO GIRLFRIENDS STARTED as a fun idea for women in Boston from any industry, work, walk of life, or background to become friends!

The story is longer than that, but I will need cookies in order to continue lol!

How long have Girlfriends been around?

Since 2018 - we hosted tons of panels, and you guessed it… Picnics, which are, to date, my favorite events!

How many people attend Girlfriends Boston events?

It depends on the events, vendors, spaces, etc., so typically 12-15+.

Why are events small?

We have always tried to keep our events on a smaller size; WHY? Because we want you to leave our event feeling that you at least met one friend, and for us to also get to know you.

Am I guaranteed to make friends if I join?

The short answer is no, it depends on the effort you put in. However, you do start getting to know people as you attend events, and we have seen hundreds of friendships being formed.

What if I need to cancel my membership?

We will be very sad. However, we definitely understand that life changes constantly, and we’ll always be there to support you regardless.

How do I cancel my membership?

You can submit your cancellation request via email me at girlfriendsboston@gmail.com - all we have is that you exit our Member’s group chats and say goodbye. NOTE: Allow 3-5 business days in order for the cancellation to happen. And make sure you have a few grace periods between your request and your next charge.
