SHE’S SO BOSTON: Meet Jen Reid

Once a month, we want to highlight really cool women who are doing really cool things around Boston in this cute little segment we like to call “She's So Boston”. This month, we are featuring Jen Reid!

Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to where you are today?

After spending time in the financial industry working for large financial firms and some small wealth management firms I decided to branch out on my own. I found that there were a lot of dysfunctional systems - teams that would only take on clients that already had wealth and not working with people that just wanted to get started or targeting people that were uneducated about the financial industry with overpriced products and overcharging them for services.

What inspires you to do the work you do or to pursue your current activities?

I love working with clients to help educate them and making them feel excited and empowered to look at and manage their finances. When I work with clients we are building life long habits that change their relationship with money - feeling good about spending, having fun savings and giving them the opportunity to build wealth while taking out the guilt and shame!

Can you share a challenge you've overcome in your journey, and what you learned from it?

I didnt start out in the financial industry or go to school for it - after choosing a career path in construction and realizing it was not what I wanted to do I had to make a shift and start from scratch, switching to finance was scary and something I didnt feel confident in and there were a lot of people telling me it was going to be hard, that it was competitive and male dominated.

Learning something new was scary but also exciting - challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone has helped my build a business where I can now help people learn and feel more confident and educated which will accelerate their personal wealth!

What achievements are you most proud of, and why?

When I first started “figuring out” and getting into the financial industry I was also paying off a combined debt with my husband of $80,000 - paying that off was a major achievement and also mental hurdle to realize we can do anything if we put our minds to it and work together as a team.

I also graduated and passed my NLP, Life Coach, and Hypnotherapist course through Anchored Certification Program in 2023. It has been an exciting and rewarding experience sharing what I have learned.

Can you highlight a collaboration or partnership you've had with other local women or organizations that was particularly meaningful?

I have been working with WWIRE - Wellness for Women in Commercial Real Estate for the past 8 years, its been a great partnership organizing workshops, speaking events and opportunities for women in a male dominated industry to learn and feel empowered around asking for raises and promotions, managing their money and investing!

How has the community of Boston influenced or supported your endeavors?

I love the Boston Community - After college I have stayed in and around the area and have found it supportive in growing my network and friendships that have been encouraging!

Aside from your work or the activities you're known for, what are you passionate about?

I love being a wife and dog mom, I love lifting weights and doing Crossfit workouts so that I can be fit for Biking, Skiing, and golfing. You will find me at the beach in the summer with a good book and traveling to the mountains when it snows!

How do you find balance between your professional, personal, and community engagements?

I am working on this - I try to integrate them all, say no to things that dont align with my values and goals!

What's something not many people know about you that you'd like to share?

I love dancing - and currently am taking ballroom dancing lessons with my husband!
